With the nostalgic and gentle new album Under the Pepper Tree, Sara Watkins offers a comforting record for those moments as daily rhythms fade into nightly rituals '' and when a child ''s imagination comes to life. Made with families in mind, the personal project encompasses songs she embraced as a child herself, as well as the musical friendships she ''s made along the way. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Tyler Chester, Under the Pepper Tree brings storytelling, solace, and encouragement to the listener, no matter the age.

This album is described as a record of children's songs but I would describe it as a collection of lullabies all the songs have that gentle caressing sound of reassurance of music to help children sleep. Some of the music is specifically lullabies such as Stay Awake and Blue Shadows On The Trail others such as Edelweiss, Moon River and You'll Never Walk Alone while not lullabies as such have the same qualities.
The album begins somewhat unusually for a Sara Watkins album with orchestrally backed 2 songs the beautiful Pure Imagination [ from Willy Wonka] and The Second Star To The Right [ from Disney's Peter Pan] these set the tone of the album with songs mainly drawn from movies with gentle versions of You'll Never Walk Alone and When You Wish Upon A Star. The rest of the album after the first 2 tracks has a more acoustic folky sound to its songs and as befits a record of lullabies it has a very restful quality, the album ends with a cover of The Beatles song Goodnight [from The White Album] and this brings the album to a beautiful sleepy conclusion.

サラのソロ4作目は、初めて作った子供のためのアルバム。2020年にコロナ禍が始まり、家族3人の巣ごもり生活がずっと続くように思えたことが制作きっかけに。“昼から夜へ、現実から想像へという変化を和らげる”ために、自分が子供時代に好きだった映画などから選曲。いくつかの曲間がつながっていることもあって、昔風のトータル・アルバムのような作りです。これを聴いて、家族の気持ちが明るく、そして穏やかになってくれることを願っているとのサラの思いが充分に叶ったといえる出来栄え。共演は、3でNickel Creek、10ではI’m With Her。4でのサラと娘とのデュエット、繊細さに満ちている。曲名のカッコ内には作品タイトル、オリジナルのミュージシャン名を加えました。36分ほどのやや短いアルバムですが、コロナで疲れた大人の心も癒すには十分かと。

A fan but this cd has "for children" om wraping. This is not at all clear in the promo piece. Going back to the promo I can see a hint but, I feel, misrepresents. Low rating reflects this aspect.
Did keep it to pass to younger members of the family.
