Llegó antes de lo previsto. Dejaron el paquete en un punto de entrega cercano a mi casa y lo recogí fácilmente.
La película se ve perfectamente y cumplió mis expectativas, contando con una historia de comedia ligera, muy amable de ver, en la que brilla especialmente Ava Gardner en una de sus primeras grandes interpretaciones, donde demostró sus dotes para combinar humor, ingenuidad y encanto.

An old 40's movie in black and white, in 1:37... But even in such a reduced framework, Ava the divine incarnates Goddess Venus in this vintage comedy which would at best constitute a Twilight Zone episode. But Ava, who must have been around 20 at the time, was truly the most beautiful animal to have walked on this Earth. For her fans, this movie is an absolute must!

I love this movie, I always have.

I saw it when I was very young in TV (b&w) and for whatever reason it caught my imagination.
A beautiful statue of the Goddess Venus coming alive in the shape of the a very young beautiful Ava Gardner.
What is not to like?

I find it incredible how people (often turning down their noses or batting or rolling their eyes) criticize it using today's standards.
It'd be like reviewing a classic car from the 50's in terms of miles per gallon, curbside weight, and other modern day standards.

Look, this is a very silly romantic novel that will also appeal to guys.
Think I Dream of Jeannie: a dolt of a guy can't see the perfect girl right in front of his nose... BUT there is another take also.
Unlike Jeannie there is also something from a story viewpoint for the gals. And for the less young also.
Enough said to avoid spoiling the plot.
And for what is worth risque for the time.

I'm saving to show it on Thanksgiving in our HD theater using blu-ray. New equipment with a new younger audience.
No one but me has seen it.
My four kids (two married, one in college and one still in HS) along with older friends and family will be the test audience.

I will let you know how it is received by them, but know ahead of time, I will thoroughly enjoy myself.
This one is not only a keeper, but one you will want to own.

I had the vaguest of memories of this movie; I must have seen it on our fuzzy, black-and-white tv many decades ago. But something jogged that little snippet, and when I saw the title, I knew that it was a movie I wanted to see again. I almost fell for the tv version, but a quick search showed me that this one, with the incomparable Ava Gardner - very young, and very beautiful, was what I wanted. I'm not a technophile, I can't describe the quality of the picture, and I don't buy discs for the extras. I can only say the print was clear, the sound audible, and the story... well, the story is wonderful, if corny. If you enjoy old movies, if you were a tv kid in the 50s and 60s and spent time adjusting the antenna to get rid of the snow on the screen so that you could make out the picture, you should get this.
